Hand chiselled using select cane sourced from France by reedmakers with over 42 years of experience in the art of reedmaking.

Chesney Pipe Chanter Reeds are known for their inbuilt ability to keep their stability and pitch in all conditions, even with a limited playing time.

CHESNEY BRASS REED : 

MODEL FEATURES .
The Chesney Brass Pipe Reed is designed to be sharper on the top hand and flatter on the bottom hand in comparison to the Chesney Copper Reed.

Using a brass staple designed to have an increased airflow with a greater response enables our brass reed to deliver an increase in overall volume and also be very free to blow.

Primarily made to played in the Chesney MK1 Chanter but also suited to chanters with flatter top hands.

The choice of many bands throughout the grades - including St. Laurence O’Toole in Grade 1.

Played to win every Major Championship from Grade 1 to Juvenile.

CHESNEY COPPER REED : 

MODEL FEATURES
The Chesney Copper Reed is designed to be flatter on the top hand and sharper on the bottom hand in comparison to our Brass Pipe Reed.

Developed using a split copper staple and designed to deliver great clarity on the bottom hand with an extra added breadth and depth built in on the top hand, notably on high G.
The extra depth on the top hand is retained even through the easiest reeds.

It is the Chesney Reed that is best balanced to be played in a wide range of chanters, as demonstrated by the bands that play it, including Field Marshal Montgomery, Inveraray and District, Shotts and Dykehead, Boghall and Bathgate, Fife Police, Simon Fraser University and by many others throughout the grades.

The Chesney Copper Reed has been played to win the last 7 Grade 1 World Championships and the last 4 Juvenile World Championships in succession.
